ONE OF THE OLDEST LAND ANIMALS

Southern White Rhinos are known for their distinct ‘prehistoric’, and unperturbed look – an appropriate labelling for one of the oldest land mammal species in the world.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS

White rhinos are the second largest land mammal. It is also the bigger of the two African varieties. It has a bigger head and two distinct horns. The front horn is usually much larger than the inner horn. There is no difference in the skin colour of white and black rhinos, despite their names.

SOCIABILITY & BEHAVIOUR

White rhinos are sedentary, semi-social and territorial. They can communicate vocally, using a wide range of sounds from squeaking to snarling and wailing.
